Monoprints as Canvas
These monoprints were created by printing pieces of painted canvas, with arranged painted and unpainted leaves and string placed on the canvas before laying the paper atop and running it through the press. The prints were pulled on a heavy stock French printing paper (Arches cold press mould made paper). The result is a quasi canvas ready to paint, and in some cases, further texturize with paint drippings for further dimension. The series experiment which was begun as "Like Leaves on a Canvas," is ongoing -- drawing on these monoprints to be used a new ground or the new canvas, continuing in the vain of recycling and reusing -- the continuum of natural elements from the forest turned to paper for human consumption, and then reconstituted for new uses.
